Nurse/doctor answer please? If you pour water on a pregnancy test, is it negative or does it just not work?

Its a very long story, but basically I really need to know if you take a pregnancy test and run warm water over it for five seconds, does it become negative? No pee involved, just water. I would like to make this very clear, pardon if it is rude. NO PEE EVER TOUCHING THE TEST AT ANY POINT, JUST BUYING THE TEST, TAKING IT OUT OF THE BOX AND RUNNING WATER OVER IT FOR A COUPLE SECONDS, NO PEE TOUCHING IT BEFORE OR AFTER, NEVER ANY PEE. PLEASE DON'T COMMENT SAYING "Well if your pregnant and you pee on it, pouring water on it....exc." I've only gotten answers uming I peed on it first. This is an experiment to see if some girl was lying about being pregnant. Now, I would think that it would make the test not work but I'm not sure. I've looked it up a lot but I couldn't find anything and the only source I found about it wasn't very reliable but it said that the PH balance would be altered and it would not work. I would just like to know for sure, negative or error?
